Job Description:

Sales Director

The Sales Director is responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and developing strategic client relationships across the EMEA region, with a specific focus on the Italian market.

As a senior commercial leader, the Sales Director owns a portfolio of key accounts and is accountable for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities while maximizing revenue from existing clients. The role requires a strong consultative sales approach, deep market knowledge, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across client organizations.

The Sales Director collaborates closely with internal stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Product, and Executive Leadership to ensure exceptional client outcomes and sustainable business growth.

Develop Strategic Markets

Understanding clients, industries, and market dynamics is critical to long-term success. Sales Directors build trusted advisor relationships with senior decision-makers and continuously expand their network within target organizations.

They proactively identify market trends, competitive developments, and emerging opportunities while positioning Datasite as a strategic partner capable of solving complex business challenges.

Sales Directors develop and execute territory and account strategies designed to drive sustainable revenue growth and increased market penetration.

Drive Revenue Growth

Revenue generation is a core responsibility of the role.

Successful Sales Directors consistently identify, qualify, and close opportunities while developing long-term growth strategies for their accounts and territories. They manage complex sales cycles, negotiate commercial agreements, and lead cross-functional teams throughout the sales process.

They anticipate client needs, understand business priorities, and deliver solutions that create measurable value while exceeding customer expectations.

The role includes ownership of forecasting, pipeline management, strategic account planning, contract negotiations, proposal development, Statements of Work (SOWs), and commercial discussions.

Lead and Influence

Sales Directors serve as role models within the sales organization.

They share best practices, coach less experienced team members, and contribute to the continuous improvement of sales processes and commercial effectiveness. Through collaboration and leadership, they help strengthen Datasite's commercial capabilities and drive a high-performance culture.

Continuously Develop

Top-performing Sales Directors maintain a growth mindset and continually invest in developing their commercial, industry, and leadership expertise.

They actively participate in learning opportunities, stay informed about industry developments, and contribute thought leadership both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and execute territory strategies to drive revenue growth and increase market share;

  • Develop and maintain strategic account plans for key clients and target accounts;

  • Build and expand executive-level relationships within client organizations;

  • Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities;

  • Lead complex commercial negotiations and contract discussions;

  • Manage and accurately forecast pipeline and revenue performance;

  • Collaborate with Customer Success, Marketing, Product, and Leadership teams to maximize client value and commercial outcomes;

  • Represent Datasite at industry conferences, networking events, and client engagements;

  • Maintain accurate opportunity, pipeline, and account information within Salesforce.com;

  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities;

  • Mentor and support Sales Executives and other team members where appropriate;

  • Ensure adherence to Datasite policies, procedures, and best practices.

Candidate Experience

Skills

  • Fluency in English and Italian is essential, both written and verbal;

  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking capabilities;

  • Excellent assessment, judgment, and decision-making skills, including the ability to use data and analytics to drive business outcomes;

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, presentation, and influencing skills;

  • Advanced relationship-building and stakeholder management capabilities;

  • Ability to navigate complex organizations and engage effectively with executive-level decision-makers;

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven track record of consistently meeting and exceeding revenue targets in a B2B sales environment;

  • Significant experience managing strategic accounts and complex sales cycles;

  • Demonstrated success in developing new business opportunities and growing existing client relationships;

  • Technology, SaaS, Financial Services, or Information Services sales experience highly preferred;

  • M&A industry experience highly regarded;

  • Experience engaging with senior executives, including C-suite stakeholders;

  • Experience with Salesforce.com or equivalent CRM platforms.
